Rays Sandwich Maker (SM-1002) Review

Rays sandwich makers are getting popular in Pakistan due to their sleek design, good performance, and high speed. One of these sandwich makers that I bought some years ago for my dowry impressed me a lot when I tested it a few days back. It’s called Rays Sandwich Maker (SM-1002).

Although the model number is different for this appliance nowadays, as shown in one of the pics below, the product is the same. Actually, Rays corrected their specs for the sandwich maker. For example, the model number that I have is RSA-1602, and the power capacity for the sandwich maker is listed as 1000W. But the corrected power capacity is 700-800W online, and the updated model number is SM-1002. So in today’s post, you will learn about the pros and cons of Rays sandwich maker. In this way, you can decide whether the product is purchasable for you or not.

How I Tested Rays Sandwich Maker (SM-1002)?

After unboxing Rays sandwich maker, I cleaned it with a wipe cloth. The instruction manual says that one should add butter to the outer sides of the bread pieces. However, I follow a constant diet chart, so I didn’t spread butter on the outer sides of my pieces. Instead, I brushed some cooking oil on the outer sides of the pieces. Then, I added the beaten egg and some pre-cut cucumbers and onions inside the pieces.

Then, I brushed the cooking plates with some cooking oil where the bread pieces have to be placed. And I plugged the switch of my sandwich maker into a socket to preheat it before cooking as instructed by the user manual. I preheated the appliance for about one minute. Afterwards, I opened the appliance by lifting the lid and put the sandwiches on the cooking plates. The cooking of the sandwiches started after closing the lid.

Well, the appliance took about 4 minutes to properly cook the sandwiches.

After cooking, I unplugged the appliance, lifted the lid, and placed the toasted sandwiches on a plate.

In the end, I ate two sandwiches and gave the other two to my mother. And honestly, the sandwiches tasted really good if not excellent.

The following are the pros and cons of Rays Sandwich Maker (SM-1002) that I reviewed at my home:

Appliance Power Capacity:

The sandwich maker comes with a power capacity of 700-800W. Firstly, this means that the appliance can offer quick preheating owing to its power capacity. I preheated the appliance in about a minute, so you can also preheat the sandwich maker in a minute due to its high power capacity.

Then, this power capacity makes the appliance cook your sandwiches fast, offer even browning, and become energy-efficient for your everyday use. The appliance is suitable if you have a small family to prepare sandwiches for, and it works reliably on standard household outlets.

One more point. Owing to the moderate heating that this appliance offers due to its high wattage during its operation, there is less risk of the sandwich burning as the plates don’t become hot quickly.

Non-Stick Coating Plates:

Well, you don’t have to worry about the cleaning process much after your cooking as the sandwich maker has non-stick coating plates. These non-stick plates ensure that the food doesn’t stick to them while cooking. In this way, you won’t have to do hard labour to clean the appliance.

The appliance is durable for being made of a strong stainless steel cover and other standard sturdy materials that I observed. Therefore, you can use the appliance for a long time reliably.

It covers less space horizontally or has a compact design. Therefore, it can be stored inside a standard kitchen cabinet easily.
Then, the appliance is easy to clean for users. So, you can wipe the appliance with a wet cloth for cleaning its parts.
The housing of the appliance is cool-touch for a user. Therefore, there is no chance of your hand burning while using the appliance.
You can prepare your evenly-toasted sandwiches in almost 4 minutes due to the appliance’s quick and uniform heating.
The appliance is easy to use as well. After preheating the sandwich maker for almost a minute, you just have to open its lid by unlocking the handle clip, place your sandwiches on the oiled plates after brushing them with oil, and close the lid to let the appliance cook for a few minutes to prepare toasted sandwiches.
You can get four toasted pieces at a time with this kitchen appliance. So if you have a small family, your toasting needs could be met with the sandwich maker for each meal reliably.

Cons of the Sandwich Maker:

There are some cons that I found related to the above sandwich maker. Well, I could only prepare triangular sandwiches, so there was no versatility option available in the appliance for the sandwich shape. And the cooking plates are not removable. Therefore, I found some difficulty while cleaning the appliance after toasting.

Then, the cord was short, so it took me a while to search a proper place in my home where I could easily plug in the appliance. Plus, the sandwich maker is not suitable for homes with large families or homes with frequent toasting requirements due to its limited toasting capacity.
